A Benchmark for Sustainable Food Waste Impact

Sodexo Australia received the Industry Impact Award at the inaugural Food Waste Action Awards.

The prestigious Industry Impact Award recognises individuals or organisations whose innovative practices, technologies, or initiatives are making a tangible impact on food waste reduction nationally.

Sodexo was celebrated for its strategy and circular approach to mitigating food loss and waste, which includes sustainable sourcing, integrated food and menu management, food waste measurement, food rescue, and valorisation of unavoidable food waste.

These measures, combined with Sodexo’s strategic supplier, client, and industry collaboration, support the Australian Food Pact’s goal to halve food waste in Australia by 2030 while working together towards a more sustainable food system.

Sodexo Australia's circular approach to food loss and waste reduction has set a benchmark for the industry. Their commitment to sustainable sourcing, food waste measurement, and collaboration as Signatories of the Australian Food Pact has resulted in tangible and impactful food waste reduction. We congratulate Sodexo as deserving winners of the Industry Impact Food Waste Action Award.

Sodexo's WasteWatch program has also been a driving force behind the significant reduction in food waste. The program encapsulates behaviour change, waste measurement technology, data-driven insights and a feedback loop to systematically address food waste.

With its ambitious Better Tomorrow 2025 roadmap, Sodexo continues to develop sustainable food and facilities services that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and the SDG 12.3 target of halving food waste at the retail and consumer levels.
