Sodexo is honoured to have been named a finalist in the category of Corporate Member of the Year, announced at the Supply Nation’s annual Gala Dinner in Sydney last night. This achievement is a result of Sodexo’s strong commitment to improving quality of life for Indigenous Australians and supporting Indigenous businesses.

The Supply Nation Connect 2015 Supplier Diversity Awards are Australia’s highest recognition of companies, government agencies and individuals who endeavour to develop Indigenous business and enterprise.

Sodexo would like to congratulate last night's winner, Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) for its work in improving outcomes for Indigenous communities, employees and businesses.

Sodexo has long championed the implementation of sustainable programs that improve quality of life while providing tangible benefits to the community, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within Australia where Sodexo operates. This award nomination represents the leadership role Sodexo has taken to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their businesses, and promote a diverse workforce. Everyone involved with the company has played a part in this success.

Sodexo currently works with 16 Indigenous businesses and suppliers by providing commercial opportunities through the procurement of a wide range of services in the catering, hospitality and facilities management industry. Over the past five years, Sodexo has continued to be a strong advocate of Supply Nation whilst supporting the development of emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in the resources sector. Brida Pty Ltd is one such business who in collaboration with Sodexo has been providing village and residential gardening maintenance and landscaping services which translates to real jobs and economic sustainability for local people on country.

Wendy Dawson, Sodexo General Manager of Indigenous and Community Engagement, says: “Sodexo is honoured to receive this nomination at the Supply Nation Connect 2015 Supplier Diversity Awards in the category of Corporate Member of the Year. We believe that this is testament to the commitment of our company to innovation, collaboration and the development of local opportunities for the Indigenous business community in locations where Sodexo operates”.

David Walker, Chairperson of the Ngarliyarndu Bindirri Aboriginal Corporation and Brida Pty Ltd, comments: “Our partnership with Sodexo is based on the relationships between our people and their people. We are growing together, this is the way we do business on Ngarluma land; together. I am happy that Supply Nation has seen the genuine work between us and what it means for us.
