Workplace Pride Advocates 2020-2023
LGBTQ+ inclusion is about creating a welcoming and positive environment where LGBTQ+ people are treated with dignity. Sodexo is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination and to supporting and standing up for LGBTQ+ people so everyone feels encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
We champion an inclusive environment where all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcomed and respected. We’re proud of the significant progress in LGBTQ+ inclusion we’ve made in Australia. Our journey has been recognised by the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) in 2023 with Bronze Employer status.
Our commitment to promoting equality and respect does not stop when Pride Month ends – it is something we work on every day, so everyone feels accepted for being themselves. We want everyone to come to work knowing that their identity and experiences are respected and valued in our workplace. This approach is fundamental to our values.
Through our partnerships and employee PRIDE network, Sodexo is committed to workplace equality, offering development opportunities and fostering a culture of acceptance. Our efforts aim to empower LGBTQ+ employees and allies, advocating for their rights and inclusion.
The Australian PRIDE network is aligned with its Global Pride Group, an initiative established in 18 countries, including USA, Canada, Chile, Brazil, UK, Ireland, France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
I have met people who were out, proud, and comfortable. Their visibility meant that I felt this was something I could do, and my perseverance meant that I was able to progress and support others in the community.
Sodexo is a member of Pride in Diversity, Australia’s first and only national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. A social inclusion initiative of ACON, Pride in Diversity are specialists in HR, organisational change and workplace diversity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people by reducing exclusion, invisibility, homophobia and stigma in the workplace.
