national Indigenous business spend
Our Supply Chain Inclusion Program, inspired by best practices from Sodexo operations globally, is geared towards fostering strong and sustainable relationships with suppliers, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), social and micro-enterprises, and major Sodexo suppliers championing diversity, inclusion, and local supply chain integration.
Small and medium sized enterprises are key engines for growth and job creation. Increased support for SMEs means greater support for local communities and access to innovative products and services for businesses and their clients.
When we engage with local communities, we can further advance outcomes for local people, business participation, and economic growth. That is why we have set a target of achieving 25% of spend with Small and Medium Enterprises, including Indigenous businesses, and locally employed contractors where we operate.
Sodexo is committed to meaningful, lasting relationships with local and Indigenous businesses and has a strong history and proven track record in supporting the capabilities of local and Indigenous suppliers.
We recognise there will be instances where we can work with interested local or Indigenous suppliers and subcontractors that may need our targeted assistance to bring their capabilities to the level where we have confidence in the security of supply, commercial maturity, and strong governance.
Vendor business incubation involves nurturing and supporting emerging Indigenous and Local suppliers to help them develop and grow. This may involve providing resources, mentorship, and access to networks to enhance their capabilities and competitiveness in the market.
For suppliers still developing their capabilities, Sodexo can engage in trials and proof-of-concepts to operate in an environment that has lesser risk so that they can grow at a manageable rate.
We leverage existing networks of well-established national suppliers and alliances to support Indigenous businesses going through incubation.
We provide a flexible and adaptable tailored framework to incubate businesses based on the location and the business support required.
