Emma Radcliffe

Emma Radcliffe started working with Sodexo in February 2024 as a Bar Retail employee at Nammuldi Village, beginning her career at just 25.  With strong ties to the Ngoonooru Wajarri, Yugunga Nya, and Naaguja Yamaji mobs from the Jambinu area, also known as Geraldton, Emma's Indigenous heritage is a vital part of her life and work.  Now, Emma is the Indigenous Mentor & Community Liaison Officer, collaborating with 28 Indigenous communities in the Pilbara as part of Sodexo's largest global contract with Rio Tinto Iron Ore.

Having three different tribal backgrounds shapes my worldview as I strive to ensure my people feel culturally safe and empowered in their workplaces.”  Her commitment aligns with both her values and Sodexo's mission to create an inclusive environment.  “I never thought I would find a place where I could connect my identity and my career so deeply. Sodexo provided me with that opportunity"

Embracing the Community

Emma is deeply committed to creating an inclusive workplace, playing a vital role in supporting Indigenous employees.  Her focus is on guiding them through their career paths while ensuring they feel culturally safe in their environment.  “My primary responsibility is to be a mentor, providing one-on-one support and guidance,” she explains.   “It’s important for me to be there for my colleagues, helping them navigate their journeys and empowering them to reach their full potential.”

Sodexo’s commitment is demonstrated through initiatives such as the Kai Kai Project, which has led to the donation of 10,762 meals in the past 12 months.  This effort has positively impacted between 2,100 and 2,250 Indigenous individuals and supported 15 communities. “Every meal donated represents a connection and an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.  I have gained more insight into this project, and it truly is a team effort,” she shared.

Creating a culturally informed space is crucial to Emma. “I consider it a privilege to be the person my colleagues can approach—someone who truly understands the importance of culture in our workplace,” she notes.  “We all deserve to feel seen and heard, and I strive to make that a reality every day.”

“It’s not just about the work we do; it’s about strengthening the bonds within the community.”

Her mission is to create pathways for growth, equipping Indigenous employees with the tools they need to thrive.  “I aim to be a bridge—a safe space where my mentees can share their experiences and challenges openly,” she explains.  “Success isn’t just about individual achievement; it’s about lifting each other up and celebrating our shared successes.”

It’s a privilege to be able to assist my mentees in navigating their paths.  I try to create an environment where they feel safe to express themselves and take risks.  By empowering them with the tools and support they need, I hope to instil a sense of confidence that they can carry with them throughout their careers.
